The American Academy of Otolaryngology is the largest organization that represents specialists in otolaryngology, that is, the science of treating the ear, nose, and throat. Currently, the academy serves a membership of approximately 12,000 physicians that handle many of the most common ear, nose, and throat illnesses and afflictions, including sleep apnea, hearing loss, chronic ear infection, sinusitis, allergies, and dizziness.
Members of the academy enjoy many benefits, such as reduced rates for registration with the academy’s annual meeting and expo. Through the organization, members also gain access to education and lifelong learning opportunities that enable them to stay current and improve their expertise. Members get copies of the organization’s publications, including its scientific journal and the monthly magazine full of current affairs. The academy also acts as a political advocate on behalf of its members, seeking to advance the field of otolaryngology.
