Peritonsillar Abscess in Early Childhood: Presentation and Management
Children under five years old who exhibit poor oral intake, a high fever and drooling might have a peritonsillar abscess. Though tonsillectomy is a safe and effective method for draining such an abscess, and immediate treatment greatly reduces the effects of the problem, diagnosis must first be achieved, via a tomographic scan of the neck. Dr. Rande Lazar, an expert in pediatric ear, nose, and throat disorders, is familiar with the management of these abscesses.
His research includes this whitepaper at the Memphis Ear Nose and Throat blog.
